Today’s supermarket operators have a wide variety of refrigeration architectures from which to choose. Refrigerant regulations, sustainability objectives, and the desire to reduce energy consumption are driving many operators to forgo traditional refrigeration systems in favor of emerging architectures. The presenters review several system architectures being utilized in supermarkets — from tried-and-true, HFC-based centralized and distributed direct expansion systems to CO2 booster, secondary and cascade systems. You will learn the pros and cons of each system, evaluating capacity, performance, serviceability, environmental impacts and equipment costs. The video also explores how these options have evolved in response to industry drivers and led to the increasing adoption of CO2 architectures in food retail markets.
