Limestone is transported to the plant from the mine and goes through primary crushing and sieving. The crushing and sorting of the lime can generate a lot of particulate matter, or dust. This material is collected at various points in the process to minimize its release in emissions from the plant. The powder of the collected dust is very dry, fine, and lightweight, making accurate material measurement difficult.
