Renewable Diesel (green diesel) is a biofuel that is chemically equivalent to petroleum diesel fuel that is produced from a biomass source. The Rosemount 8800 Quad Vortex flow meter can be used on a recycle oil measurement and the treat gas which consists of recycle gas mixed with fresh makeup hydrogen. A typical concern with the application is not achieving a full conversion to renewable diesel; renewable diesel chemical process can lead to varying results. This requires the refinery hydrogen balance be checked often thus making it an extremely critical measurement.
Additionally, build up from contaminants eliminates the option for impulse lines which can clog resulting in frequent maintenance. The criticality and safety concerns within this application requires a reliable solution.
