Claudio Fayad

Vice President of Technology, DeltaV Platform, Process Systems & Solutions

 Claudio Fayad is vice president of technology for the DeltaV platform of Emerson’s process systems and solutions business. In this role since August 2016, Fayad is responsible for product strategy and development of mission-critical platforms. He actively works with customers and stakeholders across the organization to develop innovative digital initiatives and extend DeltaV into a broader digital ecosystem. 

Fayad’s 27 years in the Automations Solutions business include previous roles in engineering, sales, project execution, project management, business management, product marketing and technology, participating in many projects around the world. 

Fayad has a passion for bringing people together to drive results through change, engagement and diversity. 

Originally from Brazil, Fayad attained his electrical engineering degree from UNICAMP (Campinas University) University with a major in process control. He earned his executive MBA degree from Fundação Dom Cabral and is also a graduate of the post-MBA executive program from Kellogg.

John Nita

President Europe

Emerson

John Nita is president of Emerson in Europe. He manages business strategy, sales and automation software and technologies portfolio growth to help industrial manufacturers optimize operations and reach sustainability targets. 

Throughout his 22-year career with Emerson, Nita has worked across three continents and five countries with roles including vice president of projects and services for the process system and solutions business in Asia-Pacific and vice president for sales and technology with Emerson’s life sciences and lifecycle services. Nita’s expertise spans across the chemical, pharmaceutical, oil and gas and refining industries.

Prior to joining Emerson, Nita was an operations manager and project engineer, responsible for a variety of chemical plant operations projects with Velsicol Chemical until 2002.

Nita earned a Bachelor of Chemical Engineering from the Georgia Institute of Technology along with certificates in economics and pulp and paper. He also holds a Master of Business Administration degree from the University of Texas at Austin McCombs School of Business.

Vidya Ramnath

Senior Vice President and Chief Marketing Officer

Emerson

Vidya Ramnath is senior vice president and chief marketing officer of Emerson. In this role, she leads comprehensive global marketing, brand architecture, external communications and strategic storytelling of Emerson’s transformation to a focused global automation leader with the industry’s most comprehensive portfolio.

Vidya joined the company in 1994 as a manufacturing engineer for Rosemount in Singapore. She held a number of roles with increasing responsibility, including senior manager of customer care for Emerson’s Flow business in Asia Pacific and the director of marketing for Rosemount.

She became the vice president of marketing for Emerson Asia Pacific in 2010 along with business leadership for Emerson’s wireless portfolio. In 2016, Vidya became vice president of Plantweb Solutions and Services in the global sales organization and was named vice president of Asia Pacific for measurement and analytical in 2017. She held this role until 2019, when she was promoted to her current role as president of Middle East and Africa for Emerson.

Throughout her career, Vidya has lived in Singapore and Dubai. She was recognized among Forbes Middle East’s Power Businesswomen in 2020 and received the 2022 “Women in Leadership” Equality in Energy award from EGYPS.

Vidya has a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering from the University of Madras in India and a master’s degree in Industrial Engineering from the University of Texas at Arlington.

Sean Saul

Vice President, DeltaV

Emerson

Sean Saul is vice president of DeltaV platform marketing at Emerson, where he is responsible for leading the overall product direction for the DeltaV distributed control system and safety instrumented system platforms.

Since joining Emerson in 2012, Sean has held multiple leadership roles across sales, marketing and strategy functions. Prior to Emerson, he served as the National Sales Manager for STM Sensors Inc.

Sean holds a bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering from the University of Texas at Dallas and a master’s degree in business administration from the University of Texas at Austin.

Laura Schafer

Vice President, Cross-Portfolio Technology & Innovation

Laura Schafer leads cross-portfolio technology and innovation for Emerson’s measurement solutions business. This team develops technology stacks including WirelessHART™ infrastructure, Bluetooth®, Ethernet-APL and Plantweb™ Insight Applications for measurement devices. 

Schafer has more than 20 years’ experience in upstream oil and gas and industrial automation. She started with Schlumberger where she held positions in engineering, product development, lab management, technical sales, and field operations in the U.S., Malaysia, Indonesia and Vietnam. In 2010, she advised on unconventional oil and gas well completions across the globe for Chevron's Energy Technology Center. 

She joined Emerson in 2012 as an oil and gas marketing manager responsible for the development, promotion and sale of flow solutions for applications including high pressure chemical injection and multi-phase flows. She has also served as vice president of global sales for Emerson’s precision fluid control business and as sales and marketing leader with the company’s digital transformation business. 

Schafer holds five patents and has authored numerous publications on upstream technologies. She has served on the Emerson Women in STEM board of directors since 2017, and, in 2016, the Society of Women Engineers honored her with the Emerging Leader Award. 

Schafer earned her Bachelor of Science and Master of Science degrees in chemical engineering and petroleum refining at the Colorado School of Mines in Golden, Colorado.

Mathias Schinzel

President, Middle East & Africa

Mathias Schinzel currently serves as president of Emerson for Middle East and Africa (MEA). He oversees a wide set of responsibilities covering strategy, corporate governance, profit and loss, sales, service, and business portfolio growth of Automation Solutions for the region. MEA is one of the fastest growing world areas for Emerson.

Schinzel brings a wealth of expertise to the realm of Process Automation, drawing from an extensive career spanning over two decades with Emerson. His leadership journey encompasses pivotal roles across diverse continents including Europe, Asia, & North America where he has successfully navigated finance operation, sales, and general management. 

With a rich tapestry of experiences, Schinzel is primed to lead the region towards a future where innovation converges with environmental consciousness, paving way for a more responsible and efficient industrial landscape. 

Schinzel is a graduate of DHBW Mannheim with a Diploma in Finance & Marketing as well as a holder of Executive MBA dual degree from the University of Maryland & China Europe International School.
 

Mike Train

Senior Vice President and Chief Sustainability Officer

Emerson

Michael Train was named Emerson’s first chief sustainability officer in March 2021. In this role, he leads the company’s environmental sustainability strategy, with a focus on advancing technologies and advocacy to enhance company operations and enable customer improvements through Emerson’s solutions and partnerships. He joined Emerson’s Office of the Chief Executive, which helps develop and guide the company’s global business strategies, in 2016.

From 2018 to March 2021, Train served as president of Emerson, where he oversaw software and digital technology development, major investments, international growth and global shared service organizations.

Train began his career at Emerson in 1991, starting as an international planner, and was promoted to vice president of planning and development for Emerson Asia-Pacific in 1994. He became president of Emerson in Japan and Korea in 1996, before moving back to the United States to lead Emerson’s planning group from 1997 to 2002 as corporate vice president of planning and international. In 2002, Train returned overseas when he was named president of Emerson Process Management Asia-Pacific, a role he held until 2008.

From 2008 to 2010, Train served as president of Emerson’s Rosemount business. From October 2010 to April 2016, Train served as president of global sales for Emerson Process Management. In the latter role, he oversaw five world area regional organizations focused on sales, service, support and customer satisfaction across all products and services provided by Emerson Process Management.

In April 2016, Train was named executive president of Emerson’s Automation Solutions business, managing strategy and operations for one of the company’s two business platforms. In this role, he led initiatives to help industrial customers enhance their operations to achieve Top Quartile performance.

Train currently serves as chairman of the board of trustees at Ranken Technical College and on Cornell University’s Samuel Curtis Johnson Graduate School of Management Advisory Council. He was a 2008 Eisenhower Fellowship recipient.

Train holds a bachelor's degree in electrical engineering from General Motors Institute and a master’s degree in business administration from Cornell University.

Peter Zornio

Chief Technology Officer

Emerson

Peter Zornio is chief technology officer at Emerson. In this role, he leads Emerson’s innovation strategy, overall product roadmap, technology and portfolio direction, central R&D functions, and industry standards across the business. Zornio also is a member of Emerson’s Office of the Chief Executive, which helps develop and guide the company’s global business strategies.

Zornio joined Emerson in 2006. In past roles at Emerson, Zornio served on the executive management team of Emerson’s Automation Solutions business and led development for Emerson’s comprehensive automation systems and software portfolio, including the company’s Plantweb digital ecosystem and Industrial Internet of Things solutions and strategies, as well Automation Solution’s marketing team.

Prior to joining Emerson, Zornio held a variety of product and industry marketing, project implementation and technology roles at Honeywell.

Zornio currently serves on the board of directors of Emerson Ventures, the company’s corporate venture capital arm. He is an active member of Emerson’s Somos Employee Resource Group, which focuses on support and engagement initiatives on behalf of the company’s Hispanic and Latin American employees.

He is also a member of the Forbes Technology Council, a group of C-suite technology leaders who share their deep knowledge and diverse experience in the industry, and serves on the board of directors of FieldComm Group, an industry nonprofit consortium that manages standards in the automation industry.

A holder of five patents, Zornio holds a bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering from the University of New Hampshire.
