Producing wells may flow into a production or test separator to separate gas from liquids. Liquids then flow out of the separator where the flow rates may traditionally be measured by turbine meters. Due to debris in flow lines, mechanical meters require extensive maintenance to replace or clean the rotating blades. When the meters fail, the liquid production flow rates are not measured and must be inferred. This results in unknown daily volumes until the next time it was placed on a scheduled well test and can be a very costly failure.
To increase availability of production and reduce the amount of time personnel spent on production lines, the Rosemount™ 8800 with no moving parts, no routine replacement and no cleaning required provides an easy replacement to most turbine meters. Field operations will spend less time maintaining mechanical meters and therefore can reallocate their time to increasing production.
