Alkylation units in refineries produce alkylates, which are blended with straight-chain alkanes to adjust the octane rating of gasoline. Refineries experience plugging and clogging with their current methods of measuring flow during the alkylation processes due to crystalline precipitates. The Rosemount Vortex Flow Meter crevice and gasket-free design makes it immune to clogging from precipitates. By eliminating clogging and plugging, shutdowns, downtime, and maintenance costs are reduced or eliminated.
