Wastewater generated by mining facilities is often rich in acids, caustic salts, heavy metals, and minerals, the most common use for evaporation ponds in the mining industry is for holding and reducing wastewater. Cutting the volume of water released by a hydraulic fracturing or natural gas operation by evaporation can cut disposal costs significantly. Therefore, it is important to correctly control the evaporation rate to guarantee the right volume of media in the pond.
The Rosemount 1208 Level Transmitter uses 80 GHz radar technology to deliver accurate, reliable measurements. With FMCW Fast Sweep Technology, the transmitter continuously sweeps the surface with variable frequencies, returning a much more accurate and reliable level measurement than legacy technologies would. The non-contacting radar is also tailored to be connected to the Rosemount 3490 controller, working together as a remote, automated control system.
