Emerson Becomes 50th St. Louis Mosaic Project Ambassador Company

ST. LOUIS (Aug. 24, 2022) - The St. Louis Mosaic Project welcomes Emerson as its 50th Mosaic Ambassador Company – signaling a milestone of corporate support for its goal of creating a region that is welcoming to the foreign-born population to grow the economy.

Founded in St. Louis in 1890, Emerson today is a leading global technology and software company that provides innovative solutions for customers in industrial, commercial and residential markets. Empowering a more environmentally responsible planet is ingrained in the company’s Purpose: We drive innovation that makes the world healthier, safer, smarter and more sustainable.

Emerson has more than 86,000 employees worldwide, with 1,245 employees at its global headquarters campus in north St. Louis County. From its shop floors to its c-suite, Emerson is committed to fostering a culture where every employee is valued and respected for their experiences and perspectives.

Reflecting its global diversity, Emerson has eight Employee Resource Groups (ERGs) represented on its St. Louis campus, including its Asian & Pacific Islander Alliance, Black Employee Alliance, Diverse Abilities, LGBTQ + Allies, Mosaic (for employees living outside their home country), Somos (for employees who are U.S. Hispanics or from Latin America), Women’s Impact Network, and Veterans. Emerson’s ERGs serve as internal advisors and allies to other departments and employees, provide mentor programs and recruitment perspective, and celebrate and create awareness about diversity, equity and inclusion.

“We are grateful for the opportunity to collaborate with an organization like the St. Louis Mosaic Project, which shares our belief that diversity, equity and inclusion create stronger, better communities,” said Elizabeth Adefioye, Chief People Officer of Emerson. “Creating a region that is welcoming and offers opportunities for foreign-born residents to thrive as members of the community is a cause that Emerson is proud to support and participate in.”

As a Mosaic Ambassador Company, Emerson will offer Mosaic’s International Spouse Program and International Mentor Programs to its foreign-born employees and their spouses; will encourage all Emerson employees to volunteer with organizations in the St. Louis area that serve the foreign-born community; and will serve as a “Professional Connector” to an immigrant or refugee professional new to St. Louis or looking for a career change.

“We are thrilled that a global company like Emerson is our 50th Ambassador Company. Their involvement allows us to shine a light on the vital role our corporate community plays in showing our foreign-born community that they are seen and supported,” said Betsy Cohen, Mosaic’s founding Executive Director.
