Peter Zornio on Countering COVID with Edge-to-Cloud Technology

Emerson’s Chief Technology Officer Peter Zornio recently talked about the increase in cloud- and edge-computing as manufacturers deploy more automated applications in support of remote workforces impacted by the pandemic. 

“Previously, people were looking into automating some manual inspection with sensors and edge gateways but held back because they thought it was too expensive,” Zornio explained. “Suddenly, they didn’t have people to do inspections, so they didn’t have a choice.” Read more in the December 2021 issue of Automation World.
