FLORHAM PARK, N.J. (Oct. 26, 2023) – Emerson has announced the recipients of its 2023 Discrete Automation Scholarship program: Eberardo Ramirez Trejo and Harshindra N. Sanam Venkata. The scholarship program recognizes and rewards two U.S. college and university students pursuing STEM professions in fields such as engineering, instrumentation, systems and automation that are critical to discrete automation applications.
Both recipients received a $5,000 scholarship, eligibility for an Emerson internship and a $1,000 research grant for their college. With the grant, the winners’ colleges can support and fund STEM programs or enhance their engineering programs. Trejo studies mechanical engineering with a minor in computer science at the University of Texas at San Antonio and expects to graduate in May 2025. Venkata is a Master of Science degree candidate in mechanical engineering at the University of Texas at Austin. He expects to graduate in May 2025.
“I’m honored to be named an Emerson Discrete Automation scholarship recipient,” said Trejo. “The Discrete Automation Scholarship from Emerson will allow me to continue working on my dreams by putting my time and focus on what’s important without having to worry about how I’m going to pay for my tuition.”
“The Emerson Discrete Automation Scholarship is not only beneficial for paying for my studies but also furthering my research efforts,” said Venkata. “I am pursuing a thesis in data-driven additive SWARM manufacturing, and with the help of Emerson's scholarship, I can make that dream more achievable.”
