Presenters: Jonathan Huggins, Dow Chemical Company, Tom Nolan, Emerson, and Courtney Lane, Emerson
A vinyl-acetate monomer production facility implemented a state-based control interpretation of procedure automation to stabilize and replicate predefined operational responses, reduce the influence of human factors on the rate of abnormal situations, and increase the efficiency of response execution. This presentation will discuss the challenges, learning opportunities, and rewards encountered during this project.
Presenters: Eric Braun, Emerson and Marcio Donnangelo, Emerson
Cybersecurity breaches can be costly, dangerous and occur at the most inopportune times. With the rise of well-funded, highly sophisticated attackers, breaches have become a more common occurrence. This presentation will discuss the proven four-step process to ensure cybersecurity for IIoT implementations, and describe the security mechanisms built into wireless industrial communications which can be used to protect Industrial Internet of Things implementations in plants and facilities.
Presenters: Jesus Flores-Cerrillo, Linde PLC (Praxair Inc., a member of the Linde Group) and Pete Sharpe, Emerson
The Smart Manufacturing Institute has won a $70M grant from the Department of Energy to build a prototype of the Smart Manufacturing (SM) Platform and implement a number of test bed projects. The ambitious program covers a broad range of technologies, including digital twins, cloud-based advanced control, and data analytics applications. Emerson Automation Solutions, one of the founding members of the institute, is participating with Linde to implement cloud-based monitoring of an air separation plant.
Moderator: Tim Olsen, Emerson
Join Tim Olsen as he moderates this lively question and answer session on discounted opportunity crude, including their risks and challenges, and the tools available to ensure refiners are making the most strategic purchasing decisions.
Presenters: Todd Anslinger, Chevron and Marcio Donnangelo, Emerson
To decrease the time personnel spends manually recording measurements used to perform calculations for monitoring heat exchanger fouling, Chevron’s El Segundo refinery implemented an automated, cloud-based monitoring solution that provides improved calculation, analysis, and reporting. Once Chevron expands this implementation for hundreds of critical heat exchangers at its refineries worldwide, they will save millions of dollars from lower costs, decreased emissions, and optimized maintenance.
Presenter: Raúl Videla, YPF Refinery
Improving a refinery's mass balance and loss control program for accounting, planning and scheduling, financial, and operational evaluation purposes, and having a clear understanding of the losses and where they occur is critical for performance. Find out how the YPF Refinery, in Lujan De Cuyo, reduced unaccounted losses from an initial 5-7% 20 years ago, to an average of 0.11% this past year—with an estimated annual savings of $25 million.
Join Julie Valentine and other refining industry experts for a discussion on women in refining, followed by a question and answer session.
Join Doug White and other industry experts who will share their expertise on how operators can digitally transform their organization to enhance profitability in a dynamic market.
