AMS Device Manager Changes How Plants Manage Intelligent Field Devices.
AMS Device Manager revolutionizes the way plants communicate with their devices by adding an emerging technology— Field Device Integration (FDI). FDI combines the benefits of EDDL and FDT/DTM technology providing a standard method for device integration. The AMS Device Manager implementation of FDI reduces complexity and simplifies device management providing cost savings and ease of use for end users and device manufacturers.
About Field Device Integration (FDI) in AMS Device Manager
Add up to 30,000 devices into a single database for all your smart devices connected to different host systems, including offline devices configured using a field communicator like AMS Trex. Extend asset management capabilities by delivering device health and calibration status via browser-based interface enabling access from any station on the secure network.
AMS Device Manager integrates with enterprise level applications such as AMS Optics to provide visibility of instrument health. It is a reliable source that provides data from devices connected to various DCSs, PLCs or Safety Systems via open industrial protocols, enabling data analytics for process improvements.
Using historical baseline data and performance, you can analyze trends to determine when replacements or maintenance will be needed. AMS Device Manager provides graphs to visualize discrepancies and recommended actions on how to fix issues.
AMS Device Manager supports the definition of device test schemes, device calibration scheduling, and the management of device calibration data. Go paperless to eliminate documentation errors and automate documentation to minimize unnecessary work.
ERIK LINDHJEM | VP/GM RELIABILITY SOLUTIONS, EMERSON
As plants digitally transform maintenance routines, they find better ways to manage devices in the field. Erik Lindhjem explains how top plants are moving from reactive to proactive by implementing comprehensive device management software paired with fit-for-purpose handheld communicators to provide diagnostics, documentation, calibration, and device configuration.
ANNA VELEÑA | PRODUCT MANAGER, EMERSON
Emerson's AMS Device Manager Data Server employs MQTT, a lightweight network protocol to publish intelligent field device data outside the control network into third-party platforms for analysis and deeper insight. Hear from product manager and subject matter expert Anna Veleña in this article.
ERIK LINDHJEM | VP/GM RELIABILITY SOLUTIONS, EMERSON
Teams are now using asset management software to collate data from valves, instruments and others via modern protocols like OPC UA and MQTT. This data is then contextualized, made available at the enterprise level for collaboration, and used to automate closed-loop maintenance tasks and workflows via CMMS. Erik Lindhjem, VP/GM of Emerson’s Reliability Solutions business explains.
