Non-Intrusive Measurement of Ammonia Gas at Industrial Refrigerators

Due to its excellent thermal properties, ammonia is the common refrigerant in food & beverage industrial refrigeration systems. Ammonia is undergoing several physical states in that system, to move thermal energy away from the process in order to achieve the needed cooling effect.
Efficient operation of the entire system is crucial, as it is an energy intensive operation. Measuring ammonia hot gas flow after the compressor provides the needed data to look into the coefficient of performance (CoP), and find saving potentials and optimized compressor control.
