Dissolved oxygen is a key process control parameter for biochemical processes​ in the wastewater treatment, biopharmaceutical manufacturing and steam power generation ​industries. Since microorganisms need oxygen to live​, dissolved oxygen sensors are used to measure and control these oxygen levels. Dissolved oxygen sensors are also used to control oxygen levels to reduce corrosion.
