Level Measurement of Sump Pits in the Oil and Gas Industry

A sump is a vessel located in a low place or below key equipment that collects waste or overflow liquids like waste oil, condensate, chemicals, or water which are collected for reprocessing or disposal. Treated wastewater or rain collection water is stored in open atmosphere sumps. Sumps are also used to collect waste product streams. They are often placed underground for ease of filling and for insulation when situated in locations with extreme climates. The sump is often accessible with only top-down measurement technology.
